     Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a safe and effective hands-on specialized manual therapy technique that can help to eliminate pain by improving range motion, reducing tissue soreness, promoting muscle relaxation, releasing muscle tension, facilitating improved blood flow to the effected area, and promoting tissue healing.
This technique was originally thought to have positive effects on pain and movement restrictions by releasing tightness and restrictions in the body's fascia, the extensive network of connective tissue that connects the muscles, nerves, bones, and organs of the human body. More recent scientific evidence suggests that myofascial release can positively impact more than just the fascia, having both localized impact in muscles, soft tissue, fascia, as well as more global effects in the brain and nervous system on re-modulating pain.
At Better Movement Therapy, myofascial release (MFR) is always completed with gentle, safe pressure/stretching to the patient's tolerance. This is achieved by ongoing patient-therapist communication throughout the intervention.

     Original Strength Reset™
Original Strength™ is a movement system based on the human developmental sequence and design of the human body, that focuses on specific movement patterns used to reset and modulate an individual's neuromuscular system, allowing them to enjoy improved physical movement, strength, and physiological function. At Better Movement Therapy, this system is incorporated into treatments to help clients optimize functional body movement patterns and relieve pain/tension.

     The Safe and Sound Protocol
     (SSP)
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidenced-based acoustic treatment based on Polyvagal Theory, that can help persons of all ages better regulate their central nervous system in order to resolve: chronic pain, anxiety, depression, inattention and lack of ability to focus, difficulty with behavioral regulation and resilience, poor physical coordination and balance, difficulty sleeping, effects of trauma and PTSD, and stressors that impact social engagement.
Better Movement Therapy offers the Safe and Sound Protocol to clients both onsite (in-clinic) and in online/ telehealth format (Ohio and West Virginia residents).
